Our Jesus is an unfailing King. Never once has He failed, nor will He ever fail in the future. People may let us down, disappoint us, or deplete our hope. He does not.
When others are against you, He is always for you. Though people may ignore you, He will always pursue you. You can count on Him to come through for you; He will, every time.
Jesus’ unfailing nature extends to every characteristic we know Him for. He is unfailingly patient, merciful, and strong. His peace is unfailing, as is His authority.
Today I will write about just one part of Christ’s unfailing nature: His love.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13, BSB)
There are different levels of love. The love you have for your best friend is different than the love you have for your brother or sister. The love you have for your parents is not the same as the love you have for your spouse. There are different depths of love, and each relationship reflects that.
Jesus spoke about the greatest kind of love. There is a love that is stronger than all the others; it is a love that will lead you to give up your very life for someone.
This love is relentless, reckless, and willing to do whatever it takes to captivate the heart of another. It’s willing to give up everything for another person.
When you think about it, everything in this world has a cost. Your shoes, your bed, your time – they all have a price tag. Life, however, is priceless. You can’t buy life. It’s worth more than all the money we could dream of.
The most expensive gift, therefore, is your life.
This is the love Jesus gave us. This is the gift He placed tenderly in our hands. He surrendered His perfect, priceless life for you.
Jesus’s life, death on the cross, burial, resurrection, and ascension paint the most vivid picture of God’s heart, which says, ‘I will do whatever it takes to win you back.’
His love for you was (and is) so deep that there was nothing He would hold back from you – not His throne, not His position, not His reputation, not even His life. The Lord’s love for you is incomparable. It is trustworthy (1 John 4:16), and it never, ever, ever fails (1 Cor. 13:8).
His love for you is unfailing.
What are we to do with such love? First, receive it. Then, share it with others.
Be encouraged today. You are loved by an all-powerful, unchanging, unfailing Father. His love for you is greater than life itself.
His love for you is steady and sure throughout every turn of your life. Drink it in deeply. Then go and pour out His love on others.
